Sam Rutherford

HEALING ARTS SCOTLAND CONFERENCE SPEAKER

Sam is passionate about enabling community groups to have their voices heard and sees the arts as the perfect platform for this. With over 20 years of experience as a teaching artist at the National Galleries of Scotland, she is at her happiest working in partnerships.

A research project initiated by the Nursing Department at the University of Edinburgh is a great example of how she worked with people in recovery, enabling the groups to use photography to tell their stories, culminating with an exhibition at the Scottish Parliament. She sees art as a means to research, discuss and better understand. She is currently an artist in residence with Rowan Alba, a homeless charity.
