Suzanne Andrade

Suzanne is a theatre maker and the Co-founder of 1927 theatre company. 1927's trade-mark style integrates performance, music, and animation to create ground-breaking theatre. 

For 1927, Suzanne has written and directed the multi award winning show's Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, The Animals and Children took to the Streets, Golem, Roots, and most recently Mehr als alles auf der Welt in collaboration with the Burg theatre Vienna. 

 

Awards for these productions include Herald Angel, Fringe First, Carol Tambor, Arches Brick, Total Theatre, Off West End, Critics Circle, and the Peter Brook Empty Space Ensemble Award. 

Since 2007 the company have toured extensively. As an opera director Suzanne has co-conceived and co-directed Stravinsky's Petrushka, Ravels L'enfant et les sortileges, and The Magic Flute, which opened in 2012 and is still running in Berlin. The show has now been licensed all over the world. 

Suzanne won the Helpman award for best direction of an opera, and featured alongside Paul in the Progress 1000, a list of the 1000 most influential people in London and in The Stage 100 list of the most influential people in UK Theatre. 

Suzanne has recently been shifting the focus of her personal creative practice towards therapeutic art, and projects in prisons and schools.
