Co-Founder, GAIA Collective
After graduating from Texas Christian University in 2013 with a BFA in Printmaking and focus in Arts Administration, Evan Rottet moved to Houston, TX to further her exploration and involvement in the arts. She co-founded GAIA Collective, a Holistic Healing Artist Coalition, worked both as a gallerist as well as a commissioned, exhibited and published artist.
Over time and by means of her curiosity in subliminal subjects, Evan began to believe making and surveying art as a means of therapy. A release of subconscious turmoil or unrest. She found a passion for pushing the limits of traditional methods of printmaking and the psychological benefits of this approach.
With this instinctive draw towards the medium of printmaking, Evan aided local nonprofit organization Printmatters in obtaining their 501c3. She remains a passionate and active member on their advisory board and fundraising committee.
As an artist, the works that truly instill passion in her are those that challenge traditional techniques: escaping stereotypes of high editions, two dimensions, mattes and frames, even the use of a press itself. She encourages investigation into liberating the boundaries of making art.
While she has worked with Visual Comfort & Co for the last five years, first in Product Development and currently Merchandising, Evan continues to participate in Houston’s growing art scene. She plans to pursue inspiring others towards self-discovery through art as a form of psychological and physiological therapy.
